Snorkles, Digital Illustration, 2016

This 5 part series of illustrations deal with some of the issues of anyone living outside of their cultural norms, some issues are cultural and some are mental like loneliness, sorrow, and tragedy. In none of the illustrations will the breathing apparatus of a typical “snorkeling” set be used. When anyone wears the mask, yes, their identity is hidden, and yes, they can transform their biology by being able to see in saltwater. However, if left swimming in the ocean for a long time without the breathing apparatus the results of what they can see underwater is limited and sometimes the result of not being able to breath can be catastrophic.
